What is your favourite piece of software ?
What is it and write a description of it?
commented Dec 5, 2010 by TheTechDude (59,790 points)
I actually edited it to the way people spell it in America but in other parts of the world like Europe they spell it the way you see it now. My mistake.

Onlive is software?
commented Dec 4, 2010 by Vancar6 (1,381 points)
Well if it is not a software then i don't know what it is.
Supose it's probably more of a client then software.
commented Dec 4, 2010 by TheTechDude (59,790 points)
He/She asked your favorite not your favorites....just saying.
commented Dec 4, 2010 by zman (3,536 points)
I guess you could call it web-based software but I mean it dont install on your pc so I thought that would make it just a website.
commented Dec 4, 2010 by Vancar6 (1,381 points)
Well the way i use it i download a client lol
commented Dec 4, 2010 by Vancar6 (1,381 points)
@TheTechDude
I know, but it would be pretty unfair to say i have 1 favourite.
commented Dec 4, 2010 by TheTechDude (59,790 points)
I agree. I don't think I could pick a favorite either.

So I'm not the only one that still uses and likes the Command Prompt. Everyone that I hear always says its bad and then don't say why. There are somethings that you can do in the Command Prompt that are useful like Remote Shutdown, and ipconfig are the ones I use almost everyday.
commented Dec 4, 2010 by Database (4,181 points)
I have to admit that I used Command prompt more in Windows XP than Windows 7.
commented Dec 4, 2010 by TheTechDude (59,790 points)
ya, but I still use it quite a bit.

That's a tough one considering usage...so, I'll have to give two~

For sheer entertainment value, it's [VLC][1], hands-down.

For "wow" factor, in that it's open-source & so well supported, it's [VirtualBox][2].

*PS~ if you use & enjoy open-source software, please donate.*

VLC?! why trade it for K-lite codec pack that has media player classic in it?
commented Jan 20, 2013 by geekomatic (1,842 points)
It isn't a "trade", it's a preference (isn't that what this topic is about?). I've used most of the players out there, including K-lite/MPC- and always come back to VLC as it plays all I need w/o requiring any other codecs.

Cheers!

I have different favorites for different tasks, I do a lot of transcending and gaming so I likely use steam and Mediacoder the most. Steam because I hate having to insert disks and Mediacoder because it supports smp and is reliable.
