Where do weeds come from?

They just pop up randomly, so where do they come from?

I think he means that bad weed that grows everywhere and not cannabis.

The other kind would have been "where does weed come from," though I doubt such a mistake would stick out much here.

Normally birds or other animals are the ones that scatter seeds of different plants on different places. Some seeds are scatter around by the wind. Maybe thats where they came from.

But they don't exactly looks like other plants that you normally see, isn't that why we call them weeds?

They do indeed look like plants I normally see, provided I look beyond grass. That is, weeds grow quite well in the wild. Look in some unimproved areas; those which have foliage but not lawns.
