Hi, I was wondering if anyone made a android tablet that is priced similarly to the archos 43, with similar specs but has a capacitive touch screen instead of the resistive touch screen?

I am interested in eventually getting a android device but don't like the idea of paying netbook prices for a tablet that is slower and less capable

There many android devices the under $200 but I cant seem to find any good ones, it seems that the capacitive touch screen ones often have horrible specs (eg a 400MHz CPU and 64-128MB ram)

or ones like the archos 43 which has a 1GHz CPU, and 256MB ram (with a decent GPU)

(really want to avoid resistive touch screens as the digitizers generally have certain issues such as really soft taps will cause a tap to be registered in an entirely different location than what was touched (this is why so many people have complaints about typing troubles with resistive touch screens.

PS I also don't want a smartphone as I don't like paying $100 a month to use a device that probably cost less than $100 to make

While I would like to continue using my windows mobile pocket pc, it is not longer as useful as it used to be because companies like skyfire blocked access for their windows mobile browser (so no more flash support for windows mobile users, and the 640x480 screen is not the greatest for programs such as epocraties (used for medical calculations and dosages)

(also interested in the archos g9 (hoping when it comes out, it will be $200 for the 16Gb version)

The only thing I can think of is the Viewsonic GTablet.  It's usually around $500 on [Amazon][1], but it's currently half off.

Not sure where it ships, though.

I'm guessing that the Archos 70 is either too big or too expensive?

I bought an Archos 43 last May, I have to say that the user experience is very poor, the touchscreen is resisitive and is irresponsive even with the latest firmware upgrade, sent mine back to Archos to see if it is defective or not. I can not understand why Archos went for a resitive screen instead of a capacitive one, it they have put the capacitive screen, the Archos 43 would be an Apple Ipod serious contender.
The picture quality of the camera is really bad, HD videos, don't know what to say. I have a Blackberry Torch 9800 and I can tell you that the camcorder quality is much better by far, I know that the phone is twice as expensive as the Archos 43

Other features of the Archos 43, like Networking, mini HDMI output, Music Player are great and work very well.

But if you are used to any decent touchscreen like the ones that come with the blackberry torch 9800, Iphone 3GS or 4, Samsung Galaxy, HTC or even lower spec phones like Samsung Europa(my little daughter has one), my recommendation is not to buy it because you will regret it.
