for webdesign you won't need much performance. I would say go with the laptop you already have if it's decent. It's probably better than the mac mini since mac minis have specs 10 years old. ^-^
Maybe invest in a bigger screen, it's always easier that way~

why are you asking then? don't be cheated by the core i5, it's the old core i5 only dual core.. I don't get why you would buy a new computer at all for simple webdesign if you already have a decent laptop

You could use a netbook for web development, unless you're developing with Flash (please do the world a favor, and don't even think about using Flash). Two years ago, used a PowerMac G4 for web development.

About Yarvaxea's comment that they have specs that are 10 years old, it's not true. Ten years ago, we just passed the 1 GHz processor speed. Mac Minis are extremely fast computers. I would rather use a Mac Mini than a pretty powerful Windows based PC, because Windows based PCs don't always have the fastest graphics drivers. With a Mac, you are getting a computer that has advanced drivers. I wouldn't game on the Mac Mini with the Intel integrated graphics, but I know it can handle Minecraft!

And the application that I like to use for web development is TextWrangler on Mac, and Notepad++ on Windows...both free!

didn't you see the ^-^ ? That means ironic..
The core i5 and i7 in the mac mini are downtuned and only dual core, it's a joke. Windows has the newest drivers if people update their drivers, same with macs. Although because the hardware has to be made specifically for the mac, all the features from a graphics card are not included on the mac.

"With a Mac, you are getting a computer that has advanced drivers."

Seriously? If that's so, why are games getting noticeably much less FPS on OSX, when compared to Windows?

In case you didn't know, a lot of developers tend to sway to Windows since that's where most of the market share for their products are. One good example of this is peripherals, especially webcams. Every single webcam I've used on Windows 7 did not require any extra driver installations, while the only c910 I tried on my friend's MBP didn't work until 3 hours of tinkering later.
