Well I recently have been reading about open dns and have learned that it speeds up waiting time such as for web-pages. So does it help downloads to hurry. By how much? Thanks you so much. Hope to get a clear answer.

DNS or Domain Name System is simply an address or telephone book as such which will handle converting that userfriendly url or website address that you type into an IP address that is understood by a network.

Switching to a quicker telephone book will not make you talk to the person on the other end of the phone any quicker, it will only help you find their number faster.

So no it won't help your download speed, only maybe if the file is hosted on a site other than the one you start it from it might start a bit sooner.

If you want faster Internet speed, contact your ISP (with money in your hand).  Your ISP is who limits how fast data travels to you.
