I recently noticed that the sound when I plug in my headphones just on my iPad it only comes out the left side for sound. I know it's not my headphones because they work fine on everything else. I tried different headphones and the same thing happens every time. Also I tried it with different apps and the same thing happens where the sound comes out of one side on ALL apps on my iPad. I curently have an iPad 1st generation and it does have the current iOS which is iOS 5.2 or 5.1 whatever the newer iOS fermware is.

Well sir, sorry to say this but your headphone jack is busted. You'll need to go to an Apple Store and see what they can do or replace it yourself, but I can't find any iPad 1 headphone replacement jacks.

This has happened to me before and if you're on warranty, Apple DOES cover this.

Go into an Apple store and talk with an Genius even if your iPad is out of warranty... The genius's have alot of power when it comes to warranty and non warranty claims...

They might not repair it free of charge if you no longer have a warranty (although stranger things have happened), however he/she will probably be able to reduce the price of the repair considerably so you end up paying very little...
