How much do you think Mac OSX Lion will cost?

Mac OSX Lion is coming out in the summer but how much do you think it will cost and/or how much do you think it should cost? Since Snow Leopard was cheap do you think Lion will be? Should Leopard users upgrade to Snow Leopard for a cheaper price for Lion?

Yeah right. Snow Leopard was only a 'under the hood' update. Lion will give you tons of new features and speed improvements. It's not the same.

$39.99 (Single) $79.99 (Family Pack)

These are just my predictions based on what Snow Leopard (10.6) was priced at

Hopefully it will be at that price.

Would be nice, Then i'd end up getting the family pack!

I'm estimating that it will be around $99 USD, because, as mentioned before, it is going to have an array of features that are unique to desktop operating systems as we know it. I believe that it will be reasonably priced, because OS X software that is made by Apple tends to be really competitively priced.

Do you want to pay for something that has a high chance of breaking?

(Nov 26 '10 at 23:11) catchatyou catchatyou's gravatar image

And what is' high chance of breaking' product you're referring to? A PC no doubt.

(Nov 28 '10 at 12:47) DazOwen DazOwen's gravatar image

Its the OS which does not break as much as Windows. The hardware is the same as any other piece of computer hardware.

Windows has always been perfectly stable for me.

And for me.

Therefore spending twice the amount on a Mac is pointless, well for me anyway.

If Microsoft made an operating system for a specific computer, it would run well and reliable. Unfortunately, they don't leaving it wide open for any kind of threat that can come in. At least my operating system is secure and reliable.

I would say around $100. I would think it would be a bit less than windows.

I think $100 USD is a good price considering all the new cool features that will be available. The features that were showed at the Mac keynote were impressive.

Still thinking that much? Would Apple charge that much for an OS? When have they ever?

(Dec 12 '10 at 12:17) YamazaruNinja YamazaruNinja's gravatar image

OS X Leopard was (I believe) around 150 USD.

(Dec 12 '10 at 15:24) catchatyou catchatyou's gravatar image

Sounds a little low to me. Lion is going to be more than a Performance/Fix upgrade that Snow Leopard was.

(Dec 14 '10 at 10:19) RaiDesu RaiDesu's gravatar image

I think it should be priced at $120 for the retail disc, $70 for the single upgrade and $100 for the family pack upgrade.

Maybe a smidge more than Snow Leopard. I don't care, I'm running Lion right now...

It will probably be more expensive than Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard was basically Leopard with more speed. There was only three new features. Mac OSX Lion is going to be an operating system that features many new features, therefor I'm sure that it will be more expensive. :)
