You should have at least 4 GB of ram for video editing depending on the difficulty.

in my opinion in everyday usage, 2gb is the absolute minium but 4gb should be enough for video editing

If you're using Windows I'd have to say that the bare minimum should be two gigabytes. If you're on a Mac, the bare minimum should be 1 gigabyte. If you're on Ubuntu, the bare minimum should be about 512 megabytes.

for what you are asking i would recommend like 4GB. Editing software consumes a lot of ram.

I would say @ least 3GB. Most say 2GB, but I would not use a system with less that 3GB of RAM.

I have a Windows 7 64 bit system & I currently have 6GB of RAM. Runs great

if you have 32 bit os you are limited to 4gb with 7 but if you have 64 bit you can theoreticaly have up to almost 200 gb but if you have 64 bit 6-8 gb if you have 32 bit 4gb is your max, yust get that.
