I accidentally cracked the screen on an ASUS netbook of mine, so now there is a big black gash in the display.

I would like to get the screen replaced on it, but I'm not sure how I would go about acquiring and installing a new screen for a notebook.

Any suggestions?

Look for the right model screen on eBay or other online retailer. Then look at some online guides of how to replace it. A repair will most likely be a rip off and cost more than the netbook itself.

If I could install the screen myself, that would be preferable. I don't really know anything about replacing laptop components, but I imagine it's not hard to do.

Not hard at all. When you do it have a step by step guide with you. There will be one online somewhere. Look on iFixit.
