With the recent advent of FireSheep (and probably other similar add-ons) private data on on public WiFi has become easier to get than ever.

Google Chrome and FireFix both have add-ons to help combat this type of attack, but what is available for iOS users on public Wifi?

(Other than being smart enough to not use public WiFi.)

Would using a proxy work?

I haven't had a chance to test FireSheep yet.

Nope, proxy wouldn't do it

"Other than being smart enough to not use public WiFi" That's about all you can do as far as I know for iOS.

I would think that someone would've developed a browser that allows add-ons by now for iOS. there's a lot of browsers, just no easy way to determine what's what.

This actually might work. I didn't even know iOS has the VPN options built in like this. I'll have to field test it over the weekend.

I'm not 100% sure but commonly on posts like this people suggest to use a VPN (Virtual Private Network). You connect to the VPN and browse through that.
