How much faster is an Intel Core i5 or i7 compared to the Intel Core 2 Duos? In doing everyday tasks like web browsing, making documents and such.

On laptops, it won't make a lot of difference, but on a desktop PC, if u can afford the core i7 then go for it.

Core i5 has hyper threading as opposed to the core 2 duo witch doesn't and the core i7 is a whole other category since it has 4 cores.

There actually pretty fast. The boot up times are faster and the Intel Core i5 and i7's are able to handle more applications running at one time.

I used to have a Core2Duo T4500 processor 3Ghz, and now use a core i7 2.8Ghz, and the speed difference is enormous. I also bumped my RAM and that really made a difference. The difference between core i5 and i7 is small, you would have to bump it to full speed to notice. So is there a difference? Yes, and you would notice!

In my personal experience, not that noticeable if you're just using your computer normally browsing, watching video etc.. But, once you start gaming or doing any processor intensive computing it becomes very noticeable and overall I'm very satisfied with the Core i7.

They are pretty fast and powerful only depending on what you are doing, if you only do internet and word processing you won't see a difference but if you do games you will see twice the frame rates you would get with a Core2Duo
