Recently YouTube started allowing users to upload 15 minute long videos. Now, that cap has been lifted completely, as long as you have no copyright infringements on your account. What do you think of this?

this is good for uploaders like Chris or Apple that want to upload a whole event (for example an apple event or something for gnomedex ) that can last a lot so i think this can be very helpful not only for them but also for the viewers so that they don't have to jump between many videos that consist the main video so generally nice move by youtube .

I'm not so sure. Chris already had the unlimited uploads from the olden days, and Apple seems to prefer to leave quicktimes on their own site. Besides, major companies/institutions seem to have unlimited accounts too.

DIdn't YouTube partners, like Chris, always have unlimited upload times?

Go to your Upload New Video page. It should have a little blue banner saying that you can upload videos past 15 minutes. If it doesn't say that, then unfortunately that feature will not work for you.

I don't think it matters, but I'm not sure though. I have 26 videos with copyrights/contentid matches and i have unlimited uploads

Content ID matches don't count. I meant if you have had a video removed because of copyright. I have a few content ID matches on my account too and I still get the unlimited uploads.

I'm eligible for the unlimited limit, and I love it. Now I can post full DJ Mixes, and not worry about having to cut the mix up into parts.

My account hasn't had any strikes, or copyright claims etc. but I'm not getting the blue banner on the top of the upload page, are Youtube currently rolling it out or has it already rolled out to everyone? Or is it that my account is too 'young' as I created the account in August.

It might be that you have to be have been a member for a while, so if your account is quite new then I guess they may not have enabled the unlimited video uploads to new users.

I have also been given the option for unlimited upload and I have numerous copyrights on my account.

Took them awhile. Content should not be limited to time.

I've never had the restriction because I've had my account as a director since July of 2006 and I'm a partner so they've kept me satisfied.

Well as for Tutorial Users in YouTube like lockergnome its very cool for them to upload full length video without having to cut the video into serveral pieces! But there will be also a disadvantage like Uploading a MOVIE which is illegal. YouTube should give lots of security like analysing the video more than 15mins and then only the video be ONLINE!

What's your thoughts?
