Hello Community,

I have been getting annoyed with Facebook lately because I will find out that someone sent me in invite to join a group and some how it turns more into oh look that person sent me a group invitation and Facebook automatically accepted it and now I’m in the group.

The same is true for fan pages. It will automatically accept me to the fan page.

It is annoying and I would much rather be asked to approve these actions then have it automatically done for me. As it stands now I have a ratio of around 80:20 that I deny the group / fan page then I do to accept it. They can be to much clutter.

Is there a place somewhere hidden deep deep down on Facebook that give me the option to fix this and have Facebook allow me to accept the request first before any action is taken. This never use to happen to me and I would always have to accept it first but not anymore. I should also mention that it does tell me that I have a new group / fan page that needs approval but like I said it has already approved, Facebook at that point is more saying that so and so added me to their group / fan page.

Last Note: This does not happen with applications. It will tell me that I have to approve it first.

Thanks, Brandon Denison

What does "bdenn" have to do with this question? I know it is your user name but you don't tag yourself in your questions. tags are supposed to help people find related questions. If they want to see all of the questions you have asked then they can just go to your profile.

I have noticed this to. The only thing that I can think to do is contact Facebook support. You may also want to check your privacy settings. FB has changed a lot of things lately and you may now have the option to be automatically opted into groups. i hope this helps!

I don't want to go through all of that so yeah. If there is a solid answer then I would do that. I will look through the privacy settings again though.

Can I prevent people from adding me to a new group?

Similar to being tagged in a photo, you can only be added to a group by one of your friends. When a friend adds you to a group, a story in the group (and in news feed for Open or Closed groups) will indicate that your friend has added you to a group.

Please keep in mind: Only your friends can add you to groups. When a friend adds you to a group, you'll get a notification right away. You can leave a group anytime. To do so, just go to the group page and click "Leave Group" in the right-hand column. Once you leave a group, you can't be added by anyone else unless you explicitly request to be re-added.

so fuck you facebook you couldn't even answer your on question with a singe YES or NO.
