well..i think i have decided what alptop im going to get. The reviews for it are mostly stellar except for the fact that the trackpad apparently sucks. thats okay because i dont like trackpads and was planning to get a wireless mouse anyways. I would like one that can be used on almost all surfaces if at all possible.

I have this mouse: link text Click the picture for more infomation. I got it with a keyboard also but since you will have a keyboard I guess you will only need the mouse. It works great on every surface I have tried it except glass.

I would recommend the Mercury 505.981 from www.allthingswireless.co.uk. Great little mouse which also keeps the usb stick inside the actual mouse

I paired an M705 with my X201 - the Logitech unified receiver is small enough to leave in my laptop all the time, the contour of the mouse fits my hand well, although it is a bit small, and the smooth scroll/click scroll dual mode wheel is great. I can fly through webpages and long tech docs at insane speeds or enable click mode for weapon swap in an FPS on my lunch break - changing weapons in Left 4 Dead is really difficult when the wheel just spins. The navigation buttons are a nice touch, and the secret thumb groove button - which I didn't discover until after I bought the mouse - can be set to enable a really nifty application switcher, similar to Expose in OSX.

Logitech M215. Comes with a tiny USB receiver. Plug and play. I use it with Ubuntu 10.10. No setup was necessary. Uses a single AA cell that lasts for about 6 months.

I have the Logitech Anywhere MX found hereand it has to be the best mouse I've own to date. It's customizable, very responsive, quite and can be used on any surface. I love it.

I don't know what your price ranges but I'm going to assume you mean under $25.
If that is the case, then between $18 and $25 you can get a Logitech M305 Wireless Mouse or a Microsoft GMF 3500 wireless mouse with Blue Track Technology. You can get good prices on either of these mice at either TigerDirect.com, newegg.com, or buy.com.

No such thing. I think wireless mice and keyboards are lacking compared to wired ones.
