You've all seen them before. You know, the men and women (and sometimes Santa) that stand outside grocery and department stores asking for your change? They typically have a red dispenser and ring a bell. Yeah, now you know who I'm talking about. It was the bell that gave it away, wasn't it? Anywho, The Salvation Army says you can donate to its bell ringers at several stores using a credit card. Both volunteers and donations are down this year, and it wants to encourage people who don't have cash or change to donate. "We introduced the credit card machines last year and had enormous success," said Major Keath Biggers in a news release. "We have yet to see many credit card donations this year and hope that getting the word out will help." You can also give by texting "SALOU" to 85944 to donate $10. This information is according to a local news station (WDRB Fox 41) here in Louisville, KY. My question is this: if you are asked to donate to one of these causes and your typical excuse is "Sorry, I only carry plastic." Will you donate now?
