In Mac OS X, the best one is the one that is included. Inside of System Preferences, go to Speech. Select the Text to Speech tab, and select the voice that you want to use. From there, you can use Terminal to use text to speech by typing in the work "say" and then enter in what you want your computer to say, or (I'm sure there are many other ways to do it also) you can check the box that says "Speak selected text when the key is pressed." Enter in the keyboard combination that you want to be set for text to speech. Highlight whatever you want to be said and listen to your computer talk to you.

There are so many nifty things that you can do, but since time is limited (I have finals all of this week), I can't explain everything to you. I hope that this helped, and one more thing, you might want to set the voice to a slower speaking rate, because sometimes it will speak too fast.
