Do you still use Hotmail?

Just a thought, i have been using Hotmail my whole life until a few weeks ago when i decided to switch to Gmail.

If you still use hotmail as your primary email, Why? Whats the appeal of it?

If not, do you think Hotmail will have the same fate as MySpace? Taken over by its more modern and simpler competitors?

I do still use hotmail - however I use it as my 'sacrifice' account.

What I mean by this - if I need to give an email to post a comment/access a site etc ill use my hotmail account, as I don't mind it filling up with junk-mail etc I use Gmail/MobileMe as my primary/personal accounts.

Same here! I also use Yahoo! for my secondary "sacrifice" account and MobileMe as my main personal account.

I use it, my friends do. I really like the Skydrive, the Windows Live Spaces, and the new messenger that has social integration (so you can see your facebook & twitter from your desktop)

Lots of better clients do that, but they have integration with lots of other messengers too and other sites.

Why not just get a new email and have all your hotmail forwarded to you new email address?

Why? I mean with Gmail you can see all your mail to forward to your Gmail and import all your contacts.

I have email addresses with quite a few sites, Hotmail wouldn't be my primary one although its the one I use for MSN Messenger. I find that 90% of the mail I get is spam which has been disguised to look like its from my friends. Thats what puts me off hotmail most of all.

I get zero spam with hotmail. my friends are always complaining about it, and I'm just like :D. Pretty sure it's because I have an unusual name so bots don't think to send me mail.

I had my most recent hotmail since 1999, but shut it down 3 days ago. I have been using Gmail for 6 months and have no problems with it.

I use a combination of pidgin i'm and skype to do my chatting. Pidgin allows you to connect to many different im services.

Like Chris says 'I like to connect with people, not clients'

I LOVE HOTMAIL! I switched to Hotmail because I found out you had to pay $20 a year to forward email from Yahoo!, so I switched. I love having MSN running and notifying instantly when I get a email. I don't use Gmail becuase Google is Evil.

Thats complete lies, I currently have two yahoo email accounts being forwarded to a non yahoo email for free.

I tried sending my Yahoo to my MSN and Thunderbird, couldn't find the problem, then two years later someone showed me this link.

I don't pay anything and in my mail options you can just type the email address you want to forward your email too. I literally just checked.

By that logic Microsoft is also evil, Microsoft offer the same services as google. Plus, even if google is doing that (Which they aren't) why should i care? I never go the huge worry about privacy. What are people going to do with that information? -_-

I suggest that you start researching before you start blindly speaking. Get both sides of the story, don't just stick with what you've been told your whole life.

I'm not sticking with what I've been told my entire life. I just don't believe the majority of conspiracy theory's because they make no scene and don't affect me. So what, Google knows I searched for 'Tron' and that I got and email from Amazon confirming my purchase of a CD. I mean its like religion, there's not proof or reason for it to be true but people still believe it.
