I want to use the speakers (which aren't Bluetooth compatible) that are connected to my iMac to play sound from my iPad. Is there some third party app (or anything else) that will enable me to use my iMac to play the sound coming from my iPad?

I don't want to use an audio cord on my iPad, because I don't want to be confined to a certain area.

Unfortuantley the only thing that will be able to work is an audio cord since the iMac is not bluetooth compatible to play sound from the iPad. Also there are no apps to make it possible to play the sound cordless.

You misread my question. The speakers aren't Bluetooth compatible, not my iMac. My iMac isn't that old.

If your iMac is the computer that you use to sync all of your music with then you can use the iTunes Remote to play the music of your computer from your iPad.

I don't want to play music from my iPad, I want to play sound coming from games through my iMac. I don't have a problem using a cord if I'm just listening to music, and nothing else on my iPad.

You'll have to use an audio cable for audio from games on your iPad, otherwise you get a lot of lag. You can transmit all iPad audio over Airplay from iPad, but as i said. Terrible 3 - 6 second sound lag.

Might I kindly ask how I would get Airplay to transmit all of my audio onto my iMac? (I don't care if it runs smooth, I just want to see if it's bearable)

It seems its a glitch, It happens on my IPhone so i don't know if it will work on iPod. But download this (http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/213840/airplayer_turns_your_mac_into_an_airplay_device.html) which will make your iMac an Airplay device. Then just go into your iPod app on your iPad, play a song and select Airplay, then pause the song and exit the app wile keeping airplay on. When i do that it still transmits all audio. I don't know wether it will do it on your one though.

I'm now able to play video through my iMac, but I don't see an AirPlay option in iPod (app).
