Eye-Toy webcam isnt working...

Hello, im trying to connect my Namtai Eye-Toy as a webcam to my pc but my pc doesnt detect it, im running windows xp i think home edition. It used to work before but i have always had problems with it, if i plug it out and back in 9/10th of the time it says unknown device instead of eyetoy and i cant install the drivers until it detects it as eyetoy, can anybody help me with this :(?
