I am very honored that a new friend, Barb, asked me to play piano at her NYE party. The house we'll be in for the evening has a grand piano. For those of you who have followed me on Twitter or seen me perform dance for Subservient Chris last winter, you may not know that I scholarshipped myself through college partially by playing piano and winning beauty pageant scholarships using piano as my talent. While it's been awhile since I've been in a band, I still can play (thanks to lots of keyboarding, I still have my finger dexterity). I don't want to play your standard show tunes and sing a longs, but I would like to entertain her guests and sing and play something soulful, preferably a cover tune that I can do in my own style. What would you like to see me play (and record)? An acoustic version of a Lady Gaga tune? Boomtown Rats "I Don't Like Mondays"? Tori Amos' "Winter"? 101 Dalmations "Cruella Deville"? Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah"? Nina Simone? Karryn Allyson's version of "Sous de Ciel de Paris" in French? A sappy version of, "Kiss Me Goodbye"? Or name your own popular tune, and why you think I should serenade her guests with it. Edit: please do not request Monty Python's Penis song. However, Southpark's "Hanky the Christmas Poo" is a possibility... |
