I recently transferred from a Mac to a Windows machine and in the process stored my iTunes library on an external hard drive. For whatever reason, the hard drive has decided to stop working and now I need to recover my library on my new computer. I called Apple and was told that there was a once in a lifetime option to recover my library. Does anyone know how to access this feature? Please help!

The woman sounded like she hadn't a clue what she was talking about.. I'm looking for this option and I haven't found any articles relating to it.

Did you purchase your songs through iTunes?

Yes. None of them were from CDs or downloaded on Limewire or anything like that. All of the songs were purchased legitimately through iTunes.

I would suggest find some software that allows you to pull the music from your iDevice (Assuming you have one, since you're using iTunes), and you should be set.

That's what I did when I switched my main computer.

If you have an iPhone, use Sharepod. Sharepod is free, fast and I use it when I have computers I need to dump my music into.

If you Email iTunes support and tell them the situation they should be nice and put all your previous music downloads into an available downloads section of the iTunes store. They did that for me once, yet it was only one song not an entire album. I'm sure they'll help anyway, they always do.

Okay, so at the moment, I have the software necessary to transfer my library back onto my computer from my iPhone 3G. However, I just copied all the the files and put them in music and not a single thing is showing up in my actual library on iTunes. Any suggestions?

There should be an option to add files to your library under the File menu. Browse for your songs, and add them all.
