Now, I have given a lot of thought over this. For me, a kid is someone under 10, or someone mentally immature. I'm 14, and it irritates me when someone calls me a 'kid'. For me, 'kid' implies some sort of incapability or helplessness that I know I lack. 'Kids' don't patch the Linux kernel. 'Kids' don't build computers. And 'kids' aren't mature enough to decide what their political and religious views are. I have sent a patch through the system to be accepted in the Linux kernel (A line wrapped and it was inapplicable), I've built my own functioning computer, and I decided to be a libertarian and an atheist by myself. Not because my parents or teachers told me to, but because I made the decisions. Someone calling me a 'kid', in my mind, lumps me with the rest of the kids who have yet to be able to control their arm and leg movements. So, I don't like it when I get grouped with these people on account of my age. Age is not a good measure of someone's capabilities. What do you think?

Don't care what other people think of you, who cares if they call you a kid, that should affect your life, its just their opinion that doesn't matter. Now if it is someone like your father, you should care, or who ever is guardian. I'm sure people wouldn't call you a kid if you were working, finding any job you could do, and use your time wisely lol.

I think that a kid is someone ho thinks he can decide for himself what he is, without the help of those close to him... you think that if you take sides on different factions you are mature, or more mature them others...

Maturity is earned with experience, you might have experience with the linux's kernel or being able to assemble a computer, but that doesn't mean you can take care of another human being (to be a father, to be mature).
I'm not saying you are a kid or a mature person, I'n not to judge your life experience!

But you and all others who wonder, should keep in mind that with experience and practice you learn to perfect old things and unveil new ones, maturity is the ability to chose the right option when an opportunity arrives (for example: to say yes to collage and no to drugs)!

My golden tip for you: "Only when you will stop believing that you are mature and smart, adn only then you will become more mature and smarter!"

I don't think of myself as 'smart'. I hope I am, but I can't say for myself. But I know that I'm more mature than a lot of other people who burst out laughing when they hear something vaguely sounding like a double entendre, using myself as an example. What I'm saying is that I don't like to be called a kid, and that it's an overgeneralization that doesn't apply to many people.

well, here is a funny twist:
You didn't told us what you consider a "kid" to be!
What if that group of people you consider kids will say that they don't like to be called kids... and so on... that would men that kids will disappear from out vocabularies :))

To me a kid is someone under 18 who has not yet learned certain things that all adults know and have a squeaky voice which are therefore confused when some adults who use the internet find them to be incredibly annoying. If you don't have a squeaky voice and you have had a job then your an adult.

I took apart and rebuilt a computer alone when I was a "kid". I think it's all mental age not physical age.

I agree completely. What I just tried to say, perhaps unsuccessfully, is exactly that. Age has nothing to do with ability. It's time someone realized that.

You are a Kid and it sounds like your not giving yourself the chance to be one. (Your age does not measurer anyone's capability)

Lot's of people question my age because I claimed to be our youngest user. You are not going to get much better than this because I am big on internet safety. You should be able to figure it out.

I believe there is no such thing as adolescence. You are either a child, or a man or woman. A child should be brought up to work, and be taught to one day pursue manhood or womanhood, not to waste their life and be lazy. A child's parents should be preparing their son or daughter for manhood or womanhood their whole life. You become a man or a woman once you can make it on your own, provide for yourself, support a family, and don't need guidance for most things, even though at time you will need counsel from wiser adults with more experience. If other countries, and villages, you are assumed a man at young ages such as 13, because your whole you have been being taught how to work and provide for yourself. The world's definition of a man is just being 18 today. It really is sad.
