well i got a Razer Lachesis mouse, and it's starting to give up after only 2 years. the customer service is probably the worst i've delt with, even though it's out of warrenty they offer nothing. so i was wondering if i could unsolder the button/clicker, and take one off of a cheap mouse and solder it into place? there are 2 buttons that have started to give up, the middle click (which really isnt the most used so i was surprised!) and one of the buttons on the side of the mouse. |

I know that it's actually possible to do what you're saying but if it's already acting up or giving out, truthfully what do have to loose? It also sounds like a good learning experience to me. |

I have an old mouse here that my dad gave me back when we used Windows 2000, and it started "giving up" on me so I opened it up, and it was incredibly dirty inside so I cleaned it out, and it was back to normal. Try cleaning it out... As far as replacing two buttons on a mouse I have no idea how to do that, but I'm not big into electronics, sounds like a good tutorial to recommend KipKay to do. (This dude makes some cool stuff, and shows you how to do it too) it's not a dirt problem, i clean the mouse out every few months, and a general cleaning every couple of days. the insides are fine, the buttons have just worn out way too quickly. might actually take some pics of the process when i get round to it and post them, dont know if i'm upto operating on such an expensive mouse. lol if it all goes horribly wrong, i'll let the post die, if i'm successful i'll probably revive it in the future. lol Well I don't know what to tell you, it does sound like a good learning experience though. I have 5 mouse pads, and mouse's here and if the button died, then it'd be hardware in which I'm not a guru at that, but it is possible to replace the mouse buttons however to do it, I'm unaware on, but it also depends on how your mouse is put together. |
