In the movie Avatar in the begging that have transparent tablets that display images they look like OLED's and they are all touch, those would really be worth having.

One thing, and only one thing needs to be invented, and soon.

A replicator. Why?

What is the one soul reason wars are fought, people die, and theft happens?

Money..Cash, you know? These things $$$$$$

A replicator would remove the want, and need for money and other peoples possessions. Hungry? Replicate your meal, want a bigger tv? No problem. Your computer needs a new part? Again, there ya go!

It would solve millions of problems over night.

Do I think this will be invented in my life time?

No.

Why?

Because it would put millions of companies instantly out of business. Sorry to say, but they exist because you need things they sell. Remove that need, and they will fold.

A teleporter. Get rid of trains, planes and automobiles. Travel anywhere instantly. Order goods that materialise on your desk in a flash. Long distance relationship? Pfft, go visit the other side of the world each night! hugs to the guy that gets that one on the go. ;)

The problem with teleporting living things is that they would likely die in the process. Being able to break down the all the cells in your body and move them at close to the speed of light would just cause to much strain, not to mention the thousands of variables that can negatively affect the cycle. It is true that light has been teleported, but everything has limitations, and even light may breakdown over time under that kind of stress. Sorry, but you would be better off trying to transfer things at fast speeds through a vacuum than teleporting them.

I do believe that we already have the technology and the need for virtual reality gaming. It would probably be a lot more healthy than sitting in a chair all day.

Cheaper, bigger, better display technology. I want a display that will cover an entire wall and have consistent viewing angles from across the room. I want to have a movie theater in my house, without breaking the bank. And without needing a projector.
