Hello Lockergnome, AGAIN my parents pc has some problems, they wanna borrow my laptop now but thats my laptop so im gonna try to do anything i can to repair that thing for them. When i startup their computer it goes up to the loading of windows xp and in the middle of that it crashes and gets a what looks like a blue screen of death message, but a weird one, i cant realy describe it because its only their for about half a second, and then it restarts again. i tryed Safe Mode but that does exactly the same thing, but when it crashes and restarts you hear this sound coming from inside the pc that sounds like paper is stuck in a printer :P i already told them to take a look inside but they are to lazy to do that... they want my laptop... ofcourse because its 10 times faster :P but its mine so im gonna do anything to repair that thing so i can keep MY laptop, can anybody pleas help me with this :(? Thanks in Advanced ;) |

there's obviously a hardware problem, pull the plug, wait an hour, open it up, and examine with caution |

Open up the case and check all the case fans and clean them. Check the Heatsink on the CPU and make sure it is not clogged up with dust. You can buy a can of compressed air from the computer shop especially for doing this. Fan build up can cause fans to sound erratic and won't perform their job properly, which is to keep your computer cool. If the CPU heatsink is clogged up, then your cpu is going to overheat, which in turn can cause it to cut out, giving you the bsod. If all that fails, have a listen to the hard drive when you switch the power on and see if the noise is coming from it. If it is, then your gonna have to replace the hdd and reinstall windows on a new drive. |
