He's using Docky. I'd love to know what theme you're using, Ryan.

I don't use Docky. It doesn't work correctly for me. I use Avant Window Navigator. On my windows laptop I use RocketDock. I like docks.

Hmm.. Looks very much like Docky I guess. I prefer Docky to AWN, I find it just has a better feel to it and the open windows minimize to the icon, even if you don't have that icon pinned to the dock.

That's it isn't user friendly. That I can't (out of the box) execute exe or dmg files.

Ahhgg, almost every GNU/Linux can run compiz.. I don't get why you think that only Ubuntu can run it.

It's developed by a community of awesome people that dedicate a lot of time to the project. It's also free so there's no deciding to buy Home or Pro versions.

I like the fact it uses apt-get to install packages as i'm too lazy to run down dependencies

Customization, vast amounts of open source software, hardware compatibility and multiple desktop capability. Multi-desktop is probably my most used feature - I have 4 on my old 32 bit laptop, and the new one will be running 8 virtual desktops. I get to keep the multi-monitor productivity feel even when I'm mobile.
