With Sony unleashing the Sony PlayStation Phone aka 'Ericsson Xperia Play' It will change the game of how you use a phone. Or will it? This Android powered device looks great but will it hold up to the expectations of what a phone should do? I see phone makers jumping on this bandwagon but I don't see them flying off the shelves like hotcakes. Most people want a phone to communicate and that's it. The younger gen will love them and want them, but will that be enough to drive the market?

First of all, if someone wants just a phone for Calling they would not buy a Smartphone. The way Sony thinks about the Games on a Phone is justs adding some Addons (PS Buttons) and adding a new variety of games to there Phone line. Android Games and PSP games make there way to Sony saying to the buyer, Hey Look! We have this phone with Android and it also supports our PSP Games! its just a way to make the Sony Smartphones 'The best gaming' option.

I'm not buying it. It is not going to be powerful enough to run PSP2 games, and we don't even know if it will have PSP games. I don't need to take a handheld everywhere I would take a phone. I am going to buy the HTC Thunderbolt, and then when the PSP2 is announced, make my decision between PSP2 vs 3DS. Most places I would take the PSP2/3DS I would not have to keep it in my pocket, because I would most likely use it on a long trip or at a friend's house. The Xperia play is bulky, and Ericsson's Android UI is even more laggy than Motorala's.

But I'm a big gamer, so that's probably why I wouldn't want this phone. If you're a casual gamer, I can see why may want this to play some PSP Minis, or PSOne games, with the added functionality of a smartphone.
