No but there is an i7k that is made for over-clocking

I think that there will eventually be a processor that is faster than the i7(K), what you would call i9, as technology gets better. However, I don't think they will call it i9. It is a current product line so something different with a different name may be created. Great question!!!!

If you're asking if there's going to be a better line than i7 for Intel- then yes. Are they going to name it i9? That I don't know but I'm betting my pennies on no.

no the there is no reason for there to be the i7 does up the 6 cores, and there is no reason to have a i9 because it is just a name

There will probably be some other processor from Intel but it will be probably be under another name and another category

Intel's current naming scheme using the "Core i*" format seems to be sticking around for a while, so I wouldn't doubt that a "Core i9" would eventually be coming. It would obviously be faster than the current Core i7s, but it probably won't hit for quite a while, especially with products like the Core i7 980X out now.
