Forwarding a port on your router can help improve your download speeds, Here is a great article explaining how its done. But remember torrent speeds vary depending on many factors such as internet connection speed and seeder to lecher ratios.

There are a few things that could be effecting your speeds, but the main one is the number of seeders for that particular file. If the item doesn't have alot of seeds it will take you longer to download, and depending on the seeds themselves you connection could be very slow.
You can also check your settings in your torrent program to make sure you're not uploading more than you would like or faster than you are downloading etc.

one thing you might want to check is if your ISP is throttling torrents... also i am not sure but according to your original question you are speaking of downloading illegal torrents which if im not mistaken can't really be discussed on lockergnome.net. not trying to be a hardass, just dont want you to get in trouble.

It's possible that your ISP is throttling your connection to the torrents, Much like Synaptiv suggested. Have you tried other torrent downloading progs?Free Download Manager HERE Has a built in Torrent downloader, give that a try. I've used it and found it works quite well.

The speed in which you download in uTorrent (supposing this is what you use) depends on three things:
Your internet connection speed
The uTorrent port being properly forwarded in your software firewall and your routers firewall
Capping the upload speed in uTorrent, to at most, 70-80% of your internet's upload capacity.2.
The first thing you need to do is open up the SpeedTest (CTRL + G) and test to see if your port is correctly forwarded. Then you need to check this port is forwaded in Windows Firewall and your routers firewall. To access your routers settings you need to type your IP Address into the address bar of your internet browser, it will then direct you to your routers settings.
If you're unsure how to find out your IP Address to go Start -> Run -> and type in, without the quotations "cmd". Once the command prompt window has opened type in "ipconfig". Now it should display your IP Address. Copy and paste this into your address bar.
To configure ports and other settings I suggest you refer to your router's manual before doing anything.

there isn't really much you can do to make a torrent go faster, remember torrents are limited by your connection speed and the speeds of the others who are seeding the file. The key for a fast torrent is to look for a torrent that has alot of seeders, the more seeders the faster the torrent file will download.
