I'm reading on a government site whether or not I need to register as a business owner, and this is what it say: If your business is a sole proprietorship, you do not need to register your business with the state. What's that mean? Please help! This could cost me thousands of dollars! Thanks! |

Sole proprietorship means you are running the business as yourself, not as a corporate entity like an LLC, C Corp, S Corp, or in partnership with someone else. |

The answer would depend on what state agency you are looking at, and what state you are in. In my state, Washington, sole proprietorships must always register. |
