I have a personal blog that is mostly aimed at techies, but I have trouble promoting it since it isn't all one subject. It's just a place where I post my opinions on various things. It isn't really a place where I just talk about things that are going on in my life, although I have on occasion. I post opinions on apps, websites, hardware, things going on in the news, dogs and dog training, etc. How can I promote my site? How do other personal blogs get popular? Note: I'm not trying to get super famous. I just want enough traffic to get a few comments. I'd like to get some feedback from my readers. I currently get 10-20 unique views per day and I've tried engaging them by asking questions at the end of posts, but I never get comments. I also understand that a site with one subject would be better and probably get more views, but I don't think I'd be able to maintain multiple sites at once on my own. |

I'd just use all the free advertising I can. Your format is your format and either people like it or they don't. The people that like the format are your audience. Just post links on tech sites like Lockergnome.com . You can also make a promotional video for Chris's Youtube Channel and submit it. |

I guess I'm in the same situation as you. I own masterjan.com. That's also a blog about all kinds of things, mostly technology and other stuff. I've had it for over a year now, and it's still mostly my friends who read what I'm writing. I am, however, tweeting every new post I make, and basically just trying to comment on interesting blogs when I see them. I think it's getting better, but it takes a long time! |
