So Windows 7 is basically the same OS as Vista? |
|
Anyone who tells you that Windows 7 is just "Windows Vista with a facelift" is the same guy who runs 32-bit Windows XP Home on a quad-core PC with 8 GB of RAM. In other words, they don't know what they're talking about. On the other hand, unless you get a nice deal on Windows 7, it's not worth doing an in-place upgrade over Vista. It's definitely worth upgrading to from XP, but don't get me wrong - it's much better than Windows Vista, and definitely a lot better than XP. Oh, and Office 2010 owns bones on Windows 7. I'm familiar with Office 2010 ...... when did 2011 come out? I agree that it's much better than XP, in every way possible. David, it's a secret version of Office for cool people. zman, have you even tried Windows 7? 1
yes Victor, I have used Windows 7 dor a few months in one instance and I hate it, it's absolute crap Then how did you get it? Arguments? Alekz, I agree. I prefer Windows 7 to XP in every possible way. It could be because I was ready for something new and Vista was such a let down. 1
Alekz, it's pure bloat and I know because my XP machine with 512mb ram runs faster than it and it has 4gb ram. With that way of thinking you could say XP is pure bloat in comparison to Windows 98 because a machine with 64 MB of RAM with 98 runs faster. David: I never had any serious issues with Vista (used it for 3 years) although I agree it wasn't much of an upgrade from XP. But now I've been using Win7 a lot and I can see that they revamped the OS in every little detail possible. It's much more stable, prettier (if you can afford the eyecandy), has great little features like jumplists or recent documents in the recent programs start menu. @zman: Really??? Got four GBs of ram in my laptop and it runs excilent. Much better than one of my desktops with a Intel Core 2 Duo and only two GBs of ram running Windows XP. And that machine has a four month old Windows install on it. How cna you say Windows 7 is bloated. Now, I know that my laptop has a faster processor but it your story stands true the XP machine should be faster, but it is not... Win Xp has better features and usability than Win 98 and it has better features and usability than Win 7. Ok name features that XP has that Win7 doesn't have. Because I can name some that Win7 has that XP doesn't: Jumplists, better home networking, enhanced start menu (search, etc.) and better user level management (you're no longer always admin, and that's a good thing for security). Everything that XP does Win7 does better, heck, Win7 even lets you use "XP Mode", I just can't understand why you hate it so much without solid arguments. WinXP has the Classic Start Menu and Classic Search(more custom), it logs on faster per memory than 7, it doesn't make you wait longer with things like not making you an Admin by default and it can run programs written for XP(the majority of programs) properly. All of these things and more, 7 can't do. Win7's start menu is far from enhanced, far from secure, has horrible home networking and basically, everything that XP does, Win7 does worse if not at all. I just can't understand why you love it so much without solid arguments. 5
Can windows XP run programs designed for Windows 7??? Right, most it can't...then give one good reason why a new operating system should run programs designed for a Operating system wrote back in 2000...Things evolve and you cant expect the entire workd to wait while you live in your XP land. I certainly hope the Windows XP is better than 98 it would be newer... Windows 7 doesn't log on faster than XP. XPs logon takes forever compared to 7. And part of your argument was that Windows XP can run programs designed for Windows XP...I would hope so....Windows 7 can run programs designed for Widnows 7 as well. What a weird idea.... Most programs are written for XP so I and almost every school and organization would not be interested in the ability to run programs written for 7. 7 won't ever evolve because it's crap and part of that crap is it's eternal log on compared to XP. I speak from months and years of experience, how about you, TheTechDude? I don't know how a 14 year old could possibly have much experience so maybe you should not be the one talking. "7 won't ever evolve because it's crap", OK you know what I'm out if this discussion because you're getting childish with comments like these. Age has nothing to do with TheTechDude knowing something. Have it your way man, XP rules and stuff :P Age has to do with experience and goodbye Alekz, have fun with your crap OS. 3
I love how Windows XP requires you to put in a floppy disk with your hard drive controller drivers if you're installing it on a RAID volume. So advanced! OMG Victor, that's right, you wouldn't want to go through the incredibly hard task of inserting a floppy disk. Who still has floopy drives??? @zman I have been helpIng people fix their computer problems for the past 5 years. @Alexz: he becomes childish in every discussion he starts here. He runs out of good arugemnets to go his way and he goes to just verbally "attacking"(don't know how else to word it) other people. I have a floppy drive and you can buy one for dirt cheap that connects via usb. I've been helping people fix computers way longer than 5 years so you really shouldn't be talking and you especially shouldn't be saying I verbally attack people because you responded to me talking to Alekz not you. I think your just butthurt that i'm right and you can only make your ego happy with your little buddies upvoting your comments for you so you look popular. If you don't want to be "verbally attacked" or as I would call it, defending my position, then don't get into a conversation you were never a part of. 2
You has spent time attacking me and Alexz rather than defending your postion. Your reason that you are right it because you are older. That is so far your only proof. Let us know when you have a good reason. Your not exactly quoting what i'm saying are you? Me being older means I have more experience than you which gives my statements more validity not that what I say is right per say. I am not attacking anybody. I am responding to your comments in which you are "attacking" me by accusing my statement of being flawed or wrong. If you read my comments in full instead of just skipping through them for parts you can challenge, you would see my proof. 2
" I don't know how a 14 year old could possibly have much experience so maybe you should not be the one talking." YOu are directly saying that becuase I am yonger I should not be talking. That is what it says. 3
@zman, I am getting really sick of you and your immature behaviour. You claim to be older than us, maybe act it. I'll act how I like and how I am acting is perfectly fine. It absolutely shows your immaturity that you are frustrated by a conversation over the internet. If you don't like me then don't provoke a comment from me or better yet, go to a website where people aren't allowed to comment against a stupid belief. Perhaps Disney.com would be more up your alley. 1
@zman, perhaps you are the one that should look for a diffrent website.... How you are acting is fine to you but I agree with Tim in saying that you are not acting the age you claim to be... I have had enough of this.... Nope, i'm gonna stay here. Deal with it. Maybe, go complain to Kat and get me banned, that'll probably satisfy your ego and you can continue to get everything you want in your youth so your screwed when you turn 18. You're saying yourself that you should be banned haha dude come on just chill. We don't care if you're 50 years old and you were born with a keyboard and a mouse instead of feet, your opinion instantly becomes void when you say things like "I'm older so I'm right you're wrong". And yeah I commented again, so sue me lol. So how old are you, 91? 19? I'm 23 and I'm not afraid to say it in my profile. @Alexz: I am 14 and not afriad to say so. I just can't stand the people that assume that becuase I am 14 I can't be right or can do anything. Some of my clients that I help when their computer stops working were aprehensive when they fisrt meet me seeing that I am a "teen". But are very happy/surprised when I am able to fix their problem. I didn't say I should be banned. You should stop trying to twist what I say. I said that is what TechDude should do if he's so upset. I'm very chilled and this is very entertaining. I don't put my age or location or any other personal details not because i'm afraid but because i'm smart and choose not to leave a footprint to be tracked with. I know from TechDude's profile both his age and personal web page. How interseting is my personal website to you? I would not have posted it if I didn't want people to see it. I posted it so that I can get traffic to my site in hopes of getting visitors oncde I get something good going. Just wondering since I set it up and haven't changed anything in a few months. I am working on a new site that I am actually making rather than just using the webbuilder Microsoft has. I don't care what your site is. The point is I know the site belongs to you which is more I know about you that you don't know about me. I don't really care what you know about me. YOu can't use my age and website to do anything so I'm not worried. You keep thinking that and i'll keep watching you. OMG! pedobear XD jk jk 2
Ahhhhhh!!!! What will I do????? haha..... (that was quite creepy by the way...) you wish retard "internet tough guy. cute." That was so cute that you could come up with that statement. When do you turn 3 years old again? learn how to spell, retard!!! 2
Zman, you need to stop calling people disrespectful names. We have standards on this site, act mature. This will be your last and only warning. 2
Were you here long enough to remeber Seb? Great guy, massive knowledge base, but arrogant, like you. He's gone now, great loss, but it had to be done. I don't see why you need to hide yourself and your age. This is generally a nice friendly community. Every now and then, we get the odd asshole... and this is for everyone here. The point of this site is for people to get their questions answered. It is not a forum for trolls to argue about 'noobz' and 'Apple vs. Microsoft' This sort of question really dilutes the true essence of this site, and there are far too many of them. "pedobear ", "internet tough guy", "youngin", i've been called all of these names and the only name I used was retard! Okay, Tim, this comment trail is so long, I don't know how many of the comments were deleted or stayed and I don't know who's gonna post next but this started as it always does with TechDude interrupting a peaceful debate between me and another user with a bunch of accusations against me. I'm not for violence or attacking anyone but I do like to defend myself when i'm accused of something. If you want to ban me, go ahead, i'll never come back but i'm not being an asshole. I even gave evidence for my point. I'm not trolling and this wasn't even "Apple vs Microsoft". It was XP vs 7. Maybe you all should just wake up to the fact that this site is ruled by the mob. Whoever's opinion is the most accepted is who gets the other person attacked, downvoted, or banned. So perhaps now I will be banned and you will all continue to play this game but don't worry, I won't be like Seb and troll and DOS the site, i'll just go somewhere else.

I've been using Windows 7 for about 2 months now and NO, Vista was an awful awful POS that should of never have been made.. it was flawed from the start. I'm so happy with Windows 7, I have to slap MS on the back even though I will be moving into the Apple world soon when they finally release the new refresh of the iMac, but I can install windows 7 on it and have the best of both worlds. Sorry I kinda add info when its not needed. |
|
You could say that. One of the big thing pushing Windows 7 right now is the lighter/smaller footprint. When you start it up, it only starts what it needs to bring up the desktop. As long you keep your registry clean, it will remain fast and clean. Here's some of the benchmark testing from the first announcement. Maybe this will help. |
|
No, it's not the same, if it was the same my screen would be loaded w/ errors I had w/ software in Vista. Windows 7 is a new OS, we can also put it as an updated ver of Vista. |
|
Windows 7 way better a lot! compared to Vista. As I always hear about vista "The Ram Eater". Vista had a lot of RAM usage issues which isn't longer on Windows 7, but TBH till now I don't like how Windows 7 consumes the ram, it is still a lot but much better than Vista at least. |
|
No, no, funawelkrvwovjnwlkv no. Vista was made from scratch, 7 was based on the kernel of an earlier Windows 2k. |
|
Design and appearance is similar, but it solves compability issues and Hardware issues too |
|
I would say that Win7 is much more than Vista with a UI tweak. Performance and boot times have been greatly improved, as well as TRIM support for compatible SSDs. They've also remade the security settings so that (compared to Vista) the system is just as secure, but doesn't constantly prevent you from using some legitimate programs. I also love the native mp4 audio/video codec support and wide variety of drivers included into the OS. |
