I see a lot of people on here and on various other forums writing of Dell computers simply because they are Dell.

Why is this?

I have a Dell Inspiron and it works a charm :D

I only use Excusively Dell (Except for my Asus Netbook) and i love them. They are very dependable and durable, especially their laptops. They also have very good materials in their products that hold up very well. I've never had any instances to call customer support, so i cannot make a verdict on that.

Because I don't think many other people have had the same experience with Dell as you have and when things do go wrong their customer service is terrible.

I personally think Dell is a great company. They make computers that have a good performance/price ratio. I haven't used their customer support before, but I have heard a few people say good things about it.

Dell has had their ups and downs as far as customer service is concerned. I've had nothing but good experiences with their business line of notebooks (Vostros, Latitudes) but I have seen some early wear and tear signs in the few Inspirons I've dealt with. I've never seen anything that would cause me to steer someone away from them for light computing or home use, but a power user is best to look at the higher end models in the Vostro and Latitude line.

If you get Dell's Gold level support, it probably ranks as the best support you'll get for your personal computer. I've had everything from replacement keycaps to entire replacement motherboard shipped within a day, simply based upon my self-diagnostic of the unit. Having the option of a technician on site to install the hardware as well gives me a great deal of peace, especially when dealing with my mother and the uniquely impressive things she does to break her laptops.

In closing - I buy Thinkpads, simply because of the rock solid experience I've had with the reliability of the systems. If you haven't had an issue with your Dell, I'd go right ahead and keep buying them until they let you down, then look elsewhere for other options. The machine you have has to work for you, not for the rest of the people who might not like it for whatever reason.

I've own several Dells and haven't had a single problem with any of them. The only time I had a problem was when I was shipped the wrong monitor and they actually let me keep it and sent me the correct one, so I actually got two monitors out of the deal. Can't complain. Every computer in my house is a Dell currently, and I would recommend them over alot of these other brands hands down.

I used to own a dell and i can say from experience they are not good computers. I had an inspection e1505. and the computer ran fine performance wise, but the case was not well built, the screen became loose the mother board and battery failed within a year of me owning the laptop.

I also go to a school that use Dell computers, and no one is pleased with them here for the same reasons.
