Recently I have had to download something called Unity Player to play some browsers games. Unity seems to just be another Flash type thing. What is Unity and how is it different from Flash? Thanks. |

Screw Flash. ;) Play TRON lightcycles in your Web browser with Unity: http://ayogo.com/lightspeeder/ |

"Unity is an integrated authoring tool for creating 3D video games or other interactive content such as architectural visualizations or real-time 3D animations." -- Wikipedia So basically it is a 3D engine that supports various platforms (Windows, Mac, Wii, PS, Xbox, browser). In order to render 3D content within a browser a plugin is required (Unity Web Player). You are not yet able to render 3D content in a browser w/o a plugin. There is a technology called WebGL in the works that will allow browser apps to render 3D content, but it is very new and not yet widely supported by web browsers. Chrome and Safari have support for it, but it is disabled by default. |
