You may need to use a file converter. I recommended using format factory it can converter almost any file to any format you can find into the program if you are using a PC.

I've always had a problem with filetypes in Sony prgrams, like DVD Arch doesnt like avi???? What I've always had to do is use a converter. I recommend the Adobe Media Encoder...That's all I got...

The best way to get videos into Vegas is to convert them, which can be done extremely easily with Winff, an open source video/audio conversion tool. When I do this, I normally convert them to .mpg.
