Hello everyone,

I'm a tech reviewer on Youtube with 1760 subscribers and I was thinking that maybe I could create a new blog related to my channel so that my viewers have somewhere to read things related to my videos. My question is:

Should I create a blog in WordPress? I know that this is easy but maybe a year from know I have grown in the amount of subscribers and I want to have my own personal blog.

Maybe the best thing to do is to create a blog from scratch. The problem is I don't know how. If you think this is the answer to my question, also let me know where I can learn on how to create a blog.

Thanks!

This depends on what you want to do because there are two different versions of WordPress. One of them is Wordpress.com, which is free to use, and WordPress.org, which you need to install, for free, on your own host, not free. I would always recommend using WordPress.org because it's your blog, not a blog hosted somewhere else. But you need a domain and a host first. Domain names usually cost around $5-100 depending on what you want. But a standard .com is usually $10/year. Hosts come in many shapes and sizes and usually cost a monthly fee. On WordPress.org's website, click hosting to see their recommended list of hosts to choose from. But if you just have a domain name, and don't want to pay monthly for a host, a free host like 000webhost.com will work as long as you don't mind the limited storage and bandwidth. Storage is how much you can upload, and bandwidth is how fast a website can load with many people on at once. But if you're just looking for a temporary blog for now, you can always make one on WordPress.com and export it so you can transfer it to your own hosted blog from WordPress.org. Like said above install wordpress on a host. That way it is fully your blog.

There are many alternatives to WordPress, but you could waste a lifetime trying them out. WP is outstanding, there are many tutorials available for free, and any question you can think of has already been answered and is available via Google. But install it on your own web space, not WP's.

Can't argue with any of the recommendations made above. WP hosted on 3rd party server is the way to go. I host my blog (as well as many other things like icecast streams, irc servers, etc.) on a Co-Lo from GoDaddy.com. Taking advantage of their discounts and deals at the time of renewal keeps my total bill from GoDaddy under $200/month. :)
