If you can spent the money, just go for the X6. For $30 difference I would just go for that one. Tip: Watch the motherboard you buy if you go with the X6. The older motherboards may have problems with the X6.

Edit: it's a $40 difference :P Still, if have the money I'd go for the X6

I am planning to buy a ASUS motherboard, which is the "ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 AM3 AMD 890GX HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard", i hope that will work with the CPU.

That's one of the boards I'm using and yes it will support the X6. It also supports core unlocker which allows you to take a basic 2 core and unlock the 2 sleeping cores. Just a thought.

I am actually running both of them (two separate machines by the way) and I have yet to see a difference in performance. I just don't have any processes that will truly open them both up. Truthfully, you can do pretty much whatever you want and save about $40.00 by going with the Phenom II X4.

The X6 has 6 cpu-cores and the X4 has 4 cpu-cores.

so, the more cores, that cpu will be faster, right?!:)

Not necessarily. The more cores, the more info it can process. If you look at the clock speed of the two processors you will see that the X4 (four core) actually has a higher clock speed.

Wow!, why the X4 has more Ghz 3.4 than the X6 3.2 Ghz?! really interesting! :) i really appreciate your time David!

I'd pick the Phenom II X4 965 Black Editon

(It just broke the world record in overclocking!)

Why?

Because it's $160, that's why!

Now onto something more important...

BULLDOZER ZAMBEZI is the name to learn about mate, before you go with an old processor..
