DS light vs. DSi

I currently have a ds light with a broken hinge that has been hot-glued together, also the a button needs to be pressed very hard to react. I have a trip to Spain coming up and I would like to play it during the flight which should be fine, but I also have some other long trips I would need it to last through. So the question is should I stick w/ the DS light or go to the DSi. The 3DS is not an option due to money and time (trip happens before it comes out).
