I asked my community this question and now want to ask the Lockergnome community as well.

With the recent partnership between Nokia and Microsoft for Windows Phone 7 phone powered by Nokia hardware it made me think that they should put out a Windows Phone 7 based tablet.

The phone market is current crowded with a lot of mobile OSes already claiming their market share which is primarily Apple iOS and Android and Blackberry still strong while losing market share and WebOS has some share and will probably build some with their new devices from HP coming. We also have not heard any solid sales numbers from Microsoft regarding sales of Windows Phone 7 devices which can be taken as their not as strong as they expected.

With all that going on in the mobile OS realm it seems that the tablet OS would be a good move to make with it still very new and no one is fully dominating even with Apple and the iPad which is the most popular but its not at the level that it seems that "everyone has" and iPad. There is still a level of competition here and with Android 3.0 tablets coming, Web OS tablet and the Blackberry Playbook the tablet market looks to be a battle that Nokia and Microsoft could jump and compete and do well.

The Metro UI in Windows Phone 7 already feels that it could work great in a tablet format. with all the windows and boxes and how navigating the OS works and even when using some of the Windows Phone 7 devices I tend to feel that the screen is almost too small and I would like to use it on a bigger and larger screen. I believe Windows Phone 7 and Nokia could come with something great in this real and come with it strong.

It's all in the name.

'Phone'

never been a fan of WM though, It's been a pain when I've used it, and the android tablets are stuggling, this would get no where

I think Nokia makes great hardware. I think WP7 is great. I think a Nokia WP7 tablet would be awesome.

Here's the thing though, Windows 8 is going to be for desktop computers and tablet computers, so i dont think they will bother making a WP Tablet

Unfortunately, Microsoft has explicitly disallowed licensing of the Windows Phone OS for tablets. Just search for "Windows Phone Tablets" and you'll get a bunch of headlines stating this. It's rather unfortunate, but somewhat understandable, especially considering the UI of the upcoming Windows 8.

It would be neat to see a panorama app on a nice big screen; I'll give you that.
