Hi, I am 17 and about to go to college. I am going to major in Computer Science. I was looking at the average salary and it is about $56,200 right out of college. I am wondering if that is sufficient to be an Apple buyer. Like being able to have an iPhone, some kind of Apple Laptop, an iMac, and also being able to upgrade the products every other year except for the iPhone which I would want to update every year. I have just been wondering about this for a while. It is like a dream question.

Does anybody know a sufficient salary so you can be like those guys on Youtube who are always getting the newest and greatest Apple products. Much help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

60% of the Servers on the internet & clouds use Ubuntu (Learn it) Windows is by far the most popular Operating System (Learn it) Apple is growing in technology, but unless you are going to work for apple (Forget about it)

Of all the servers & cloud computing servers on the net, Linux is by far the most popular platform, so make sure you master Linux OS.

Ok first off if you are planning what you want to be so you can buy apple products, or any brand name product, you need a lot of professional help.

Two it is my opinion that apple products are not that great, sure apple has a lot of innovations and they do a lot of neat things, but I honestly dont see them as being that revolutionary, not in so much as IBM and the research they have done to cure cancer, data mining algorithms, control traffic congestion, ext (keep in mind apple now uses the same hardware architecture IBM developed so many years ago)

Not to get into a debate of what company is better, besides IBM is out of the consumer line anymore.

But to answer your question, yes you should have enough, but it is important to live within your means. I dont see why you would want to update your phone every year, or would want an iphone anyways when there are debatable better competing products for less.

Yah. Don't get me wrong. I am not going to college and trying to get a good job so I can buy apple products. I have just been wondering lately what kind of money you need to be getting to good tech products. I didn't mean to make the question sound like I think apple products are the best. I don't even own a mac. I just would like to be able to use windows and mac without getting into hackintosh's or anyhting like that. Anyways. Sorry about the mis interpretation. I just wanting to try new things.

Hackintoshes are great! The only problem is having to use OS X...

Well my salary is $178,000 a year and I buy PC, but I know people that make under $40K that have iPhone 4's and iMacs. Really, you don't have to make much money to afford apple products, just a few thousand dollars every couple years is all it takes.

A lot of times, the credible tech-reviewers on YouTube or anywhere else, usually have stuff sent to them for review. They don't buy everything they review.

You don't have to be rich to own Apple products. Most Mac users tend to buy a Mac product and not upgrade for quite a while; unlike Windows/Linux users. Therefore, you take the amount of money you would spend upgrading your PC over a year or two period, and compare it to the price of one iMac let's say, that is just fine "out of the box" left alone. You'll quickly realize you will probably spend more actually upgrading a PC than you would buying an iMac, MacBook, etc as a "one time" ordeal.

This falls into the category of Chris' Facebook post the other night I read on my phone, which I thought was well played...something to the effect of "most people who complain that Macs are too expensive are also the ones that spend $500+ on a video card."

I am not trying to say Mac products are expensive. I am just wondering what a sufficient salary is for being able to buy the apple products you want and also be able to pay for your mortgage and your car payment. haha

If you look at the context of your question, it's basically implying that one has to have a "higher income" to own an Apple product vs. anyone else that own a Windows machine, let's say. This is, in fact, basically saying that Macs are "expensive".

That said, even if you make $25,000 a year, if you save up for a little bit of time, you can afford to buy any Apple product, really. Only way you wouldn't be able to is if you plan on buying an iMac one month, a MacBook the next, and iPhone the next month and so on.....

I don't mean to put it like that. It is just my dad isn't able to buy me macbook pro due to not enough income and I can't find a job at 17. Right now we own a dell windows machine and I am just sick of Windows. I want to switch to the elegance of a Mac and am worried even when I grow up and get a nice job I won't be able to buy one. I know I shouldn't be worried about buying mac's but I am a huge tech guy. I love having the newest and greatest. I get so jealous of those youtube tech reviwers who get paid for showing off tech products. Hopefully I can do good in college and get a computer science degree and have a good career.

Lol so true, really...

Yes but for the price of the Mac, I should be getting a lot better specs. When you spend $500 on a video card, you are getting a top tier card that most likely won't work with any Mac (maybe the Pro, but you have to spend over $2000 easily on that machine). That argument is irrelevant.

I am a student in high school and I just get money out of Google AdSense about 100 dollars each month and I still have the ability to buy myself every Apple product I want. For example I have an iPad and I'm planning on buying a Mac Mini when Apple releases the new model and I think I'll be able to because it doesn't matter much about how much you make each year but about how you save your money and how you manage it. If you keep yourself from purchasing unnecessary things each day like coffees and candy and magazines or whatever, you can save enough to buy any Apple product you like..

I agree with all the way. Great job with the google adsense and being a youtuber I assume. What is your channel?

I would say learn Windows and Linux like what someone has already stated. Windows isn't going anywhere anytime soon, and Linux is HUGE on servers not to mention mobile devices coughAndroidcough...

As for spending your money, I find it very hard to waste my money on a system with such little specs for the price I'm paying for it. And not to mention the limited amount of control you are offered on your machine. No thank you.
