I have a Gateway GT5082 pc and the onboard video is GONE, I have a GE-Force 9500 GT video card to install, however because the onboard video is GONE, I have no way to get into the bios to switch it over to the PCI EXPRESS card, are there jumpers on the motherboard and where are they to switch it so that it will recognize PCI Express Slot or am I pooched? I have searched extensively for an answer and have pretty much run out of options ANY help would be appreciated. If something is wrong you won't see the bios.... Like your power supply if failing, or a bad RAM stick, or a bad Add-On Card, or whatever! Troubleshooting simply involves take out each ram memory module stick, trying each one in turn by them self in different slots too, rebooting the computer to see if you can get the bios to post. If not, then rule out ram, move onto the next component, sometimes it's something called Chip Creep, which is where the CPU has shrunk and doesn't have good contact with the Socket, so you take out the CPU put it back in and the thing works like magic, strange but it's true! You have to take components off, one at a time to ensure that the system is NOT going to work, period. If on-board video is in fact bad, you will need to get a new motherboard, sorry. |

It should be Plug in Play. Meaning: When you install the new video card make sure the power cord is not in the system. Install it, plug it in and boot up. The mobo should recognise new hardware and your video card SHOULD be working. It will still work just not very well, untill you install the drivers. Since you have a pc that is that new, i know it has Pnp. |
