AVI. vs WMV file formats which one is better?

1	Avi is just a container of many different formats (MJPEG, DivX, XviD, MPEG4, etc). For me, I prefer avi with the core codec being MPEG 4 or XVid answered Feb 26 '11 at 00:18 kevin ♦♦ 35.7k●160●316●588

AVI, because it lets you use whatever codec you want. Depending on the codec/quality used when encoding the video, it can be just as good as uncompressed formats.

The most important thing is to stay away from ASF files. They suck at keyframes/seeking.

1	.WMV is supposed to have better compression and quality but nothing plays it besides Windows Media Player. I always stick with .AVI just because it's common answered Feb 26 '11 at 01:58 FizzNakLe 2.5k●44●56●96
