Is Rhapsody music subscription service worth the money? Is it truly better than iTunes? Any info is appreciated.

Of the big 5, Rhapsody, Napster, Pandora, iTunes & Thumbplay; I use and pay for Rhapsody. Unlimited access to their music library plus support for mobile devices (with transfer, not just streamed) made me switch from Thumbplay. Thumbplay had an "Offline" mode for playing music on a mobile device, however they are chaotic about which devices they support. For 6 months my Blackberry ran the Thumbplay app flawlessly. Then one patch later it stops and they suddenly don't guarantee that it will work on my particular device.

Anyways, I digress. Ideally, I would prefer to use Napster as my primary music app @ $10/month. As they offer all of the above. Mobile support, downloadable music & access to the complete library for both streaming and downloading as long as the subscription is active. However, they don't yet support OS 6 for the Blackberry quite yet.

So, in fewer words. Rhapsody is fine for $10/month. Their client software, both mobile and PC, is easy to use and manages both your online library/playlists as well as your local ones. Music prices are average.. $.79-$.99/track.

I stay away from iTunes completely on my Windows based machines. Program acts like a virus, storing the playlist files in several different places and installs several Apple apps that are nearly impossible to remove, but have no problem helping themselves to system resources.

Pandora is a great service for web based music services. The streaming service is nearly flawless as the buffering is invisible while it works quietly in the background with hardly a dent in system resources. Great service for playing background music in an office for example.

Bottom line.. atm.. I personally prefer Rhapsody atm and pay for and use it currently. I'll be tempted to switch to Napster once they support the latest Blackberry OS build (Currently only supports devices up to OS 5.x). But, it will be hard to let go of the Rhapsody PC music app/organizer.

No matter which music app you prefer, it is always worth the $10/month to access an unlimited music library. If you're goal is to download music for free, then there are always torrents and p2p programs out there which also carry the unavoidable rogue viruses, trojans and of course constantly under the scrutiny of the RIAA.

Does it allow you to download music and save it?

If not, then no, probably not

If so, is a subscription less than the amount you spend on music in physical or downloaded format.

If it is less, then yes, very much so, however, if you don't download much music, then it's not worth it at all, unless you will actually start to download and listen to more, but make sure that if you do use it, you use as much as you are allowed per month to not waste you moneys

It's a great service to stream music off the internet! There are a lot of services like this such as Napster and Zune. There is many to choose from. Rhapsody and Zune I like but they all have different features so check them all out. Napster Zune Rhapsody
