I wouldn't attend the funeral. I personally am not a fan of Steve jobs, he is just a person. I'm also kinda tired of people treating him as a god. Why dont we ask this question about truly innovative people? The engineer who worked on the blue gene project at IBM, the blue gene has went on to study many things including cancer research and such.

Does anyone know the names John Mauchly and J. Eckert? without looking it up? if you ask me they are more important then anyone who has ever worked for IBM, Google, Apple, Microsoft. If you dont remember there names, as I'm sure most people dont, They where the ones responsible for the ENIAC, The foundation of all electronic computers.

Larry Page and Sergey Brin, what would you say when they pass away? they are the founders the largest internet company in the world. You may be able to say Kleenex in the US, but people in china wont know what your talking about. On the other hand, say Google, and everyone will know what you mean.

Does anyone here know who William B. Shockley was? He was the physicist who created the transistor!

My point is Steve Jobs is not that impressive of a person.

Here's what I would say:

"A great man...who did great things...and more people made a bigger deal about his death, than they ever did his life...sad."

It seems as if more people are going to remember him because of his death, vs. what he did while he was living.

It really pisses me off when people say that.

The only reason people might remember him for his death is because of what he did in his life.

Also, l2prophecy.

A little respect for the man. I mean, he's not dead, and technically he's still the CEO of Apple and sits on the BOD of the Walt Disney Company. I think it's a little premature to be composing eulogies and obituaries.

Everyone dies. Should we compose eulogies for everyone before they die? That's a little morbid.

"A great man who devoted his life to advancing the computer and technology industry. Very few people have contributed as much as he has to the progression of technology. His innovative ways provided the world with great advancements in computing and insured Apple have paved the way computers are being made. His passion for technology not only drastically improved the computing industry but also helped give birth to Pixar which have helped change the way we see movies."

If you like Apple or not, you can't deny their influence on the computing and technology industry and it was made possible because of the effort and passion from Steve Jobs. I do hope that nobody will have to be making a speech like this any time soon. Steve passion for his work will keep him going for a long time to come.

I'd attend, even if the tickets were $5000. He's just so important.

I have only been a mac user for a year, I could only afford windows previously but always liked what apple did im only 20 and my first mp3 wasnt an ipod but i remember that xmas i got one, i was fascinated how differant it was from my old creative mp3, then to having an ipod touch and an iphone its was amazing the differances they had compared to other brands, even my switch from pc to mac, dont get me wrong i still use windows for work but i love when i come home and i can use the mac and how simple it is and this was all because of Steve, in my mind he is a visionary and i do believe he changed technoligy and he made it magical, because apple products work, and it doesnt matter how? its just magic so thank you Steve for everything you did for technoligy, im proud to say i was alive while you were. R.I.P Steve Jobs
