Is there a way to create (and update) an Add-In menu for Word 2007

I have a Word template. In previous versions of Microsoft Word, I was able to have customised drop down menus (with sub-menus), which I could regularly update to provide quick access to over 100 autotext entries. Word 2007 allowed the customised menu as an Add-In but will not let me add to or modify it. So now I'm stuck, and my spare old pc (with Word 97 on it) which I have been using for the last few years to update my template, has finally lost the will to live. Is there a way I can do this in Word 2007, or some software available to allow me to continue with my drop-down menus. Microsofts Quick Parts is simly not up to the task
