What brand of laptop do you recommend? I just got my new notebook, but my sister is wanting to get one too. Which brand do you recommend? Update: She wants a small one that is available in pink for around $300 |

What is your sister's budget for her laptop purchase? I use strictly Apple laptops and I have zero complaints, but they can be more expensive than competitors'. However, she should check the Apple Refurbs selection -- used machines that Apple has checked out thoroughly and recertified for sale, including offering a warranty on them. I also agree with other commenters who've recommended the Lenovo -- my mother has one and it's proving to be a lot sturdier than her two previous entry-level Dell laptops. Not allot, she only wants to be able to go on facebook, play webkionz, and club penguin. 1
I've had an IBM (Lenovo) Thinkpad R51 since not long after the model came out. It's been on almost 24/7 since the day I bought it. The only problems I've had were: 2x power adapters died during the summers. That is it. Fairly decent lifetime, if you ask me. I have a couple Dell notebooks, but they're real heaters. I'll be buying a Lenovo for my next notebook :) |

I recommended going with an Apple. But if you looking for something cheaper than go with a Lenovo. Their build quality is amazing. My grandmother's Thinkpad from 2004 is still working perfectly. |

MacBook Pro. I love the aluminum unibody case, and that's what pretty much sold me on it. I run Windows and Mac, so it doesn't bother me too much either way. I probably wouldn't have any other laptop at this point. |

Apple has the best build quality of them all. If you are looking for top-of-the-line products that is. |

My iBook G4(the white macbook) from 2003/4 is working still working fine. Macbook pros are even better and will last you a while. Alienware is great if you like to game, and the look nice too. dell is a little sketchy but alienware is it's own product, just supported by dell. Asus has very nice thin and lights, and you can never go wrong with HP. |

Well I like toshiba and apple. (Although I have never owned a toshiba laptop) |

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/most-least-reliable-notebooks-laptops,9102.html Asus and Toshiba are the most reliable laptops according to this study. |

I've had a pretty good experience with a Msi barebone laptop and from what I've heard the other MSI Laptop users have been really glad with their purchase. |
