The app looks legit and with apple's intense screening, it is legit.

Also, if you want to use the controller from an xbox 360, you need to find and download the drivers for them (only 3rd party is doing it, microsoft is not developing one for mac)

It wants a wired controller or wireless addon cause the charger adapter does not have the data+ and data- set on the charger adapter. It only has the ground and positive (+5V) that connects to the controller
