I have (and want) my computer set to do an Anti-Virus scan at 2PM every day, when I get home. But I do not like leaving my computer on all day, morning and night. Is there a program you know of that will turn on my computer around... 1:30PM and off around 11PM? |

If you are using a Mac, go into System Preferences. Click on Energy Saver. Then, click "Schedule..." You can have your computer automatically turn on, and shut down if you'd like. |

There is a way to shut down your computer automatically by installing software (Google shutdown timer) but you won't be able to find a software solution to turn it back on. The reason for this is that in order for the program to execute the computer would have to be on. You can however install a time relay with switch contact in between your normal on/off switch. I made a task in the task scheduler. Start> Control Panel > Administrator Tools> Task Schedular> Task Schedular Library then click on Create Task and name is change User to run it in into Administrator. Pick if you want it to run if someone is logged in or not. Under the trigger tab select what time you want it to run. For actions select start a program and for script just make a shutdown file in the format of .BAT and arguments at /S /F. For Conditions most of the time the PC is in sleep mode so I have the computer set to wake up. That about it. |
