there many that are somewhat usable but most of the cheap ones use resistive touch screens instead of capacitive touch screens. this means that you need a stylus for best performance from the screen (you also wont get multitouch)

A better question would be what is the cheapest android tablet with a capacitive touch screen.

PS 128MB for the android is not enough memory, many apps will have trouble with only 128MB

So you will want to focus on getting 256MB or more for RAM.

Sadly have not been able to find anything that meets these requirements. (PS you do not want resistive touch screen for the android, I have tried it and it is really not pleasant).

Really? I would think that I would like a stylus.. one thing I can't stand about most android phones is how you can't use a stylus...

it is a problem having to touch the screen as it gets smudges and it is hard to click on tiny things, but from my experience with the resistive touch android tablets is that they get tap errors.

for example if you use a stylus and tap an item very softly, the tap can often be registered at a different location. Then theres the problem of the resistive touch screens being good with a stylus but bad when you actually want to touch the screen with your fingers as the surface will generally have more friction.

(many elements in the android OS are designed for screen gestures and other finger friendly uses of the screen which the stylus does not do too well.

A stylus scratches screens faster than a finger so it is important to have a screen protector.

the main benefit to a stylus is it is more accurate.

PS don't go with a android device with anything less than a 600MHz CPU, Basically avoid everything that has to do with this

That tablet has memory problems (128MB is really not enough) things don't transition smoothly as the video hardware and the CPU are lacking

many android apps are designed for the hardware found in many of the mainstream android devices, eg

800MHz+ CPU, decent hardware acceleration for video, 256-512MB ram (especially if you like android games)

Wanted to also add, I have been looking for a android tablet for time time now, mainly want one that is under $200 (no point in getting a less functional device for the price of a more functional and faster netbook with more storage)

anyway, a android tablet for under $200 with at least 512MB RAM, 800-1GHz CPU, expandable storage, wifi (don't want a device that is subsidized through a 2 year contract with some evil company)

Go for 512 MiB RAM. You don't want to find out that 256 MiB is too low.

My answer is the new Acer Iconia Tab A100. It starts at only $330 and runs Android Honeycomb just like all of the rest of the more expensive Android tablets and this tablet also has a lot of the same features. It has a dual core Tegra 2 processor and all that. The battery life is a bit less, it has a 7-inch screen, and starts at only 8GB of storage but it is a very nice cheap Android tablet from an actual name brand. I like it.

Writing this from my Galaxy Tab, however it isn't by any means cheap. just an idea, maybe a rooted nookColor would work. I haven't used one but heard many good things about them.

If you're willing to spend $350, Vizio is making an Andriod 3.0 tablet. It's not inexpensive, but cheap compared to other Android 3 tablets on the market.

I picked up a while ago Innovatek 7” tablet PC for about $70 came close to about $100 Canadian dollars after taxes. For what it is worth it does the job if your just working with one application at a time.
