Do you mean the favicon? If so, check out this site: http://www.favicon.cc/ they can help you make one or you can just make a .ico picture. The website tells you what to do with the file. Basically you just make the file and upload it to the main directory.

To get blavatars for your wordpress.com blogs, go to Settings in your dashboard and upload an image as your Blog picture. Save the image and then you would be able to see it.
